BACKGROUND INFORMATION – MBDA GLOBAL SUPPORT SERVICES

MBDA’s objective is to provide access to the global economy for minority business enterprises (MBEs). In 2009, the Chicago Network Enterprise Center made a special effort to provide support for MBEs in expanding their corporate strategy and international business development goals through one-on-one sessions and educational events. In 2009, the focus was on China. But the coverage in 2010 is to add coverage for the rest of the world.  See the MBDA globalization model:

1. PREPARATION – Develop a global strategy that integrates the international business objectives into the overall company strategy. Educate the leadership team in the business culture of the international target markets. Identify potential partners in the local markets.

2. ORIENTATION – Travel to the target international market and experience the culture. Meet with potential partners. Study market assumptions locally. Practice local business networking and identify potential business and cultural barrier.

3. IMPLEMENTATION – Identify key personnel to manage the globalization projects. Recruit staff or establish partnership with local companies that can implement your company strategy. Establish a communication process that integrates into your company operations.
